Transformative Event Experiences
Diving into the latest event trends.
Melis Feingold, DES, our Senior Director, Creative Partnerships, has a gift for spotting what’s next in event design long before it hits the ballroom. She blends sharp instincts with imaginative thinking, and that combination fuels teams across Cohera.
In this piece, she shares what is shaping event design right now and how you can translate those ideas into experiences that feel intentional, engaging, and distinctly tailored to your attendees.
Immersive Multisensory Design and Sense Hacking
Wellness has officially evolved from scented candles to full sensory takeovers. Planners are now blending digital enhancements with tactile, real-world elements to create environments that participants can feel, hear, see, and even decompress in.
Imagine a lounge that doubles as a meditation retreat. Guests settle into a cocoon chair, slip on VR headsets and drift into a guided calm while enjoying a manicure. Sound indulgent? It’s because it is. The goal is simple. Encourage attendees to unplug from their feeds, tune into themselves, and walk away feeling like the experience actually gave something back to them.
Multisensory design is no longer a novelty. It is a strategy for creating moments that resonate long after the badge is recycled.
Wellness That Feels Good and Looks Good
Gone are the days when “wellness” at events meant a bowl of fruit in the greenroom. Gen Z and Gen Alpha want options that are alcohol free but still memorable, social and cool. Enter the Chakra Bar.
Instead of cocktails, guests choose from a curated lineup of mocktails tied to energy centers or chakras. It is playful, visually striking and just introspective enough to get people talking. Reiki practitioners guide meditative moments while guests sip. The experience feels equal parts spa visit and social hour.
Ambient lighting, soft textures, and intentional design reinforce the idea that this is not just a bar. It’s a pocket of calm that helps guests reset, recharge and remember that wellness can be both personal and communal.
And because every good moment deserves a keepsake, the Aura Photobooth steps in. Guests walk away with a glowing portrait that captures their energetic fingerprint. The takeaway is a souvenir that is fun, a little mystical and highly shareable.
Transformative Lighting
Lighting has become a design driver. Gone are the days of it being just another décor box to check off.
Strategically placed LED tubes cast a soft glow across walkways so guests feel pulled into a shared, cinematic experience. Illuminated backdrops create warmth and curiosity before the program even begins.
Then comes the Interactive Infrared LED Wall, which responds to body heat as guests move. The visual display shifts in real time, turning the wall into a massive live filter that reacts, adapts and surprises. People cannot resist interacting with it, which means your social content practically generates itself.
AI Photobooth
To build pre-event buzz and keep guests engaged onsite, AI is stepping into the spotlight. The AI Photobooth captures portraits that become tiles in a larger digital mosaic. As the event unfolds, the artwork grows piece by piece, forming a collective image that reflects the event’s identity.
Guests get a digital version after the event, which doubles as a thank you and a keepsake. What was once a simple photobooth becomes a collaborative, living piece of art.
Conclusion
Event design is evolving in exciting, thoughtful ways, inviting guests to experience moments that feel personal, immersive and delightfully unexpected. Wellness is now a shared ritual, lighting turns into a living storyteller, and technology steps in as an artistic collaborator. Each element works together to encourage curiosity, deepen connection, and create memories.
Here’s the shift: events are starting to feel less like schedules and more like journeys. When planners embrace multisensory design, mindful touchpoints, and interactive art, they give guests something rare: a sense of discovery. And that is what keeps people talking long after the lights come up.
