The Moment

The lights rise over the L.A. LIVE Event Deck and an outdoor venue suddenly feels like two worlds colliding. A custom-built half-pipe anchors one side with an edgy, graffiti-forward street vibe, while the other transforms into an upscale lounge glowing with color and motion.

The energy is unmistakably Los Angeles.

The Challenge

The client wanted a launch party that celebrated Los Angeles without defaulting to clichés. They needed something larger-than-life, unexpected, and capable of supporting 3,500 attendees in a single evening.

The challenge began with design. Two opposing themes had to feel distinct yet related, without creating a disjointed experience for guests.

Logistics added another layer. Six hotels, last-minute venue changes, and a condensed timeline required careful coordination.

Above all, the event had to deliver spectacle while still feeling professional, intentional, and 100% on brand.

The Strategy

We centered the entire build around contrast. A 60-foot custom half-pipe served as the visual and thematic anchor, establishing the gritty, street-inspired side of the event.

From there, we designed a second environment that leaned into elegance. Plush textures, sculptural lighting, and lounge-style seating brought out L.A.’s sophisticated edge.

To make the transitions feel natural, we used lighting shifts, spatial flow, and shared entertainment moments that allowed guests to bounce between both worlds without losing the narrative.

Because the venue change happened only weeks out, we coordinated transportation from six hotels and redesigned signage, layouts, and timing to fit the new deck.

VIPs enjoyed live makeover stations inspired by the Gilded Age, turning top producers into flapper-era characters for the Gatsby-themed reception element.

Blending smart builds, quick-turn logistics, and an atmosphere designed to immerse, the event carried two distinct themes that still felt naturally tied to one LA evening.
