Old Hollywood & Seaside Chic in LA
How Cohera blended coastal California cool with vintage Tinseltown glamour, building a four-day program for 600 guests that moved effortlessly from beachside receptions to cinematic, red-carpet-ready evenings.
The Challenge
The client wanted a quintessential California program that balanced two contrasting ideas: relaxed coastal hospitality and glamorous Hollywood nostalgia. The experience had to honor both without feeling contradictory.
Trust us, managing twenty events across four days was a tall order. Every transition, from beachfront reception to black-tie dinner, required strong storytelling.
With six hundred guests in motion, timing and transportation had to be precise. Venues, partners, and activations needed to stay cohesive across distance and theme.
Most importantly, each environment had to stand out on its own while still contributing to a unified narrative.
The Strategy
We began with the welcome reception, choosing a fully bought-out restaurant in Santa Monica for its oceanfront views and flexible indoor-outdoor layout. This introduced the coastal element in a way that felt personal and upscale.
The keep building out the theme, we layered in design cues inspired by warm California neutrals: woven textures, light woods, and soft blue accents that subtly tied the program together.
When the itinerary shifted toward Old Hollywood, the aesthetic pivot needed to feel intentional. So we reimagined classic film noir glamour with bold reds, rich velvet, and sculptural florals that created a striking contrast to the beach-driven palette.
For the Hollywood Revival event, Paramount’s New York Backlot provided a ready-made stage. Casino tables, cigar rolling, and live entertainment gave the evening an immersive, cinematic feel.
The red-carpet dinner at the Dolby Theatre delivered the pinnacle moment. Crisp white linens, gold-rimmed crystal, and rose-lined tables built an atmosphere reminiscent of an awards-night gala.
Throughout the program, we coordinated transportation, staffing, and guest flow across multiple venues to keep pacing sharp and transitions smooth.
By blending thoughtful storytelling, thoughtful design, and logistical precision, the program moved confidently between worlds while still feeling unmistakably Californian.
