Your 3-Minute IMEX Reset Routine

Because you don't have time for a nap.

If you’re reading this on the show floor with a half-warm coffee in one hand and 14 lanyards around your neck, welcome. You’re among friends. And if it’s day two and your feet are staging a rebellion, your voice is shot from too much “networking,” and you just mistook a branded pen for your hotel room key… let’s get you reset.

You don’t need a spa. You need three minutes. Here’s how the seasoned pros (and we do mean seasoned—some of us have been IMEX-ing since badge scanners beeped like pagers) get it together between sessions.

Step 1: Power Lap Like You Mean It

Do not pass Go. Do not collect swag. Just walk the floor. Take one full loop, no stops, no chit-chat. Yes, you’ll pass 17 people you know. Yes, they’ll try to flag you down. No, you don’t have to be polite. Throw on your “I’m late for something important” face and keep it moving. Halfway through, step outside. Sunlight = serotonin = proof that sometimes the best session is a breath of fresh air.

Step 2: Pocket Protein Is Non-Negotiable

You know what isn’t dinner? Gummy bears from someone’s booth and the flat champagne from last night’s client dinner. Stash a protein bar or a handful of trail mix in your bag and eat it. You’ll feel less like a zombie and more like a person with thoughts and goals.

Bonus: mint or candy chaser for a little sensory kick. Call it your IMEX amuse-bouche.

Step 3: Chair Yoga (No Lululemon Required)

Find a quiet corner. Yes, they exist, and no, the guy in the suit “taking a call” isn’t judging you. Do a few shoulder rolls, twist at the waist, reach up like you’re grabbing the last branded stress ball off a high shelf. You’re not aiming for Zen. You’re just telling your body: “I see you, and I’m trying.”

Step 4: The Old Shoe Switcheroo

If you didn’t bring backup shoes, congratulations on your confidence. For everyone else: swapping shoes halfway through the day is the trick no one talks about. It’s not just comfort, it’s a whole new lease on walking. Bonus points if they’re just different enough to trick your brain into thinking you’re fresh.

Step 5: The Box Breathing Bail-Out

Put in your AirPods (noise-canceling ON), close your eyes for 60 seconds, and breathe like you’re hiding from your to-do list:

In for 4. Hold for 4. Out for 4. Hold for 4. Repeat.

It’s the closest thing to a nap you’re going to get until Thursday.

Pro Sleep Move: Travel Sound Machine

Vegas doesn’t sleep. You must. Whether you’re rooming above the club or next to someone who’s enjoying the full “what happens in Vegas” package, pack a white noise machine. If you’re lucky enough, your 4 hours of sleep might feel like 6. That’s math we can live with.

And If All Else Fails…

Grab a colleague you love (or at least like), mobile order two coffees, and take another lap. Laugh. Gossip. Commiserate. Sometimes the reset is less about the ritual and more about remembering you’re in this with some pretty fantastic people.
